I took a majority of these pictures in my backyard. My backyard is one of my places around my house. The 200 year old oak tree surrounded by a pond gives the yard so much character. My parents are very passionate about gardening and landscaping and my mom thought thus flower would be a good subject for my photos. The blurred background highlights the details of the flowers. When taking the picture, I had to find the right angle so that the flower was fully submerged in the sunlight without being blocked

These are pictures of the 200 year old oak tree in my backyard. I love the way that the black and white filters define the lines in the bark. I didn't want to take the picture too close so that the bark would be distorted but I had to take them close enough to capture the intricate detailing of the tree.

I loved how these flowers retain their shape and color. The yellow of the petals was emphasized greatly against the dark green stems in the background. I couldn't decide if I wanted the flowers and the stems to be in focus so I decided to take one of each. I think the flower in focus by itself brings your eye to the delicate petals while the black and white filter adds definition to the flower stem
After adding the oil painting filter, it was interesting to see that there was color in the rock that wasn't visible in the original image. I thought the flower growing amongst rocks and dirt made for a really simple yet captivating photo. The hint of yellow in the center of the purple also adds definition to the focal point. I had to manually focus the camera because the auto focus was picking up the rocks in the back rather than the small flower
